Welcome

Greet new members with a customizable message when they join.

Overview

The welcome command group (alias welc) posts a message when a member joins, either a plain message, a custom embed, or a DM to the new member. Most subcommands require the Manage Server permission.

Commands

CommandDescription
welcome channel <channel>Set the channel welcome messages are posted in.
welcome message <text>Set the plain-text welcome message. Supports variables (see below).
welcome toggleEnable or disable welcome messages.
welcome dm <on/off>Also DM the welcome message to the new member.
welcome delete <seconds>Auto-delete the welcome message after this many seconds (0 to 3600, 0 disables).
welcome testPreview the current welcome message as if you had just joined.

welcome variablesList every available placeholder.
welcome resetClear the welcome configuration for the server.

Embeds

The welcome embed subgroup lets you build a rich embed instead of a plain message: title, description, color, thumbnail and image fields are configured individually and combine into one embed shown on join.

Variables

Both the plain message and embed text fields support placeholders such as the member's mention, name and join date, and the server's name and icon. See the full Variables reference for the complete list, or run welcome variables in Discord.

{user.avatar} and {server.icon} return image URLs, use them in an embed's thumbnail or image field rather than in text.
